Meer showing putti.l Mr. Jan de Timmerman was a Doctor of Law. He then became pensionary of the city of Middelburg (Zeeland). In 1774 he presented himself as poet by publishing this collection of poems. This copy contains some handwritten notes: On the front cover (upside down) is written "compleete werken", on the inside of the front cover it says "Presentexemplaar".

Backers, 1808, 4to., 8pp. no binding, single sewn signature, with gilded edges, the signature has been folded in half lengthwise, so there is a vertial crease throughout the signature, some stains, but the printwork is in good condition. This poem most likely relates to the proposed visit by King Lodewijk Napoleon (king of Holland 1806-1810, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte) to Friesland (Sneek and Leeuwarden) in 1808. A visit that never took place because it was cancelled by the king for unknown reasons.
