"De Ouderwetse Nederlandsche Patriot" was fiercely protested by patriots, especcially by Nicolaas Hoefnagel (1735-1784), who wrote several pamphlets.

Opening up a signature gives a lovely insight in how the printwork was done, with four pages printed on each side. Some corners are creased and there is some slight foxing and smudging, but otherwise the printwork is in good condition. l A patriot magazine published from 1781 to 1787, at the end of the Dutch Republic. It was one of the first opinion weeklies in the Netherlands, and was edited by Pieter 't Hoen (1744-1828). It would be continued as "De nieuwe post van den Neder-Rhijn" (1795-1799) and later "De Post".

Slightly smudged, but otherwise in good condition. l Single issue of "De nieuwe post van den Neder-Rhijn". This periodical is a continuation of "De post van den Neder-Rhijn" (1781-1787). "De nieuwe post van den Neder-Rhyn" was published between 1795 and 1799 and would be continued as "De Post".

Utrecht, Gisbert Timon van Paddenburg, 4to., full leather binding with ribbed and gold tooled spine and title plate, sprinkled edges, complete set in 12 volumes (1781-1787, last 4 title pages dated 1798, I-XII, 1394+1352+1338+1276 pp.) plus 2 volumes containing the accompanying index (1798, XIII-XIV, 8+186+312+116 pp.), three volumes containing appendices (1783-1787, I-III, 85+33+47+48+78+56+169+50+42+56+55+72+64+68+66+43+48+56+34+64+54+60+113+48 pp.) and a seperate volume entitled "Pleydoye in der zaake van Gisbert Timon van Paddenburg, boekverkoper en boekdrukker te Utrecht contra Jonkh. Fredrik Christaan Rynhard (...)", dated to 1783 and signed by the publisher Gisbert Timon van Paddenburg. The complete set counts 18 books. The set looks very appealing due to the uniform leather bindings, the books show some pencil marking and have considerable water damage but the construction is solid. NB: in the first volume a signature is missing (pages 29-32). A modern copy has been made and added to the book as an inlay. The twelve volumes of the actual periodical all have an engraved title page: C.Geelen inv., Iz. de Wit Jansz. sculp. (I), J. Buijs inv., Iz. de Wit Jansz. sculp. (II-IV), J. Buijs inv. et del., C.Brouwer sculp. (V-XII). Handwritten ownership signature in first volume F.D. 't Onstein (?). l A patriot magazine from 1781 to 1787, at the end of the Dutch Republic. It was one of the first opinion weeklies in the Netherlands, and was edited by Pieter 't Hoen (1744-1828).
