First Edmund J. Sullivan illustrated edition. This work includes two plays by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, those being 'The School for Scandal' and 'The Rivals&apos. Sheridan was an Irish politician, playright, and poet. He is perhaps better known for owning the London Theatre Royal. His comedies of manners were very popular, producing many different theatre adaptations over the years. Illustrated with frontispiece and forty nine illustrated plates. Illustrations by book illustrator Edmund J. Sullivan.  Prior owner has included a newspaper clipping from an 1899 matinee for 'The School of Scandal' by Mr F. R. Benson's Shakespearian and Old English Comedy Company. Six pages of publisher's adverts to rear. Collated, complete.Bookplate of Rhoda Lawrie to the recto to the front endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Cloth and gilt illustration on front board is bright. A few marks to boards, with some fading to spine. Some light bumping to head and tail of spine and to the extremities. A very small amount of wear to the head of the front joint. Small patch of cockling to the tail of the rear board. A fine signed limited edition copy of this influential poem put to music by William Walter, with a 7 inch record of Edith Sitwell reading the poem to music in 1929. A limited edition work, limited to one thousand numbered copies for sale, of which the first two hundred and fifty were specially bound and signed by the composer. This copy is numbered one-hundred and ninety-five. Signed by the composer to the edition page. 7-inch record of the 1929 recording of 'Facade' is present to the pocket to the box. In the original cloth presentation box. Presentation box is in a very good indeed condition. Facade' is a charming poem by Edith Sitwell, here put to music by William Walter. 'Facade' is a series of poems, recited over an instrumental accompaniment. The poem 'Facade' received a glowing review by Siegfried Sassoon. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, and one colour plate. Edith Sitwell was the eldest of the three literary Sitwells, and published poetry continuously from 1913. Put to music by William Walter, with the sheet music printed in this work. Walton was a noted English composer. In the original quarter morocco binding with patterned paper to the boards, in the original cloth presentation box. Externally, fine. Presentation box is lightly discoloured, mostly to the spine, with some light marks and some wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. A very scarce work in a half calf binding with the original boards and the calf corners removed. Ink inscription to the front free end paper. The first to the 150th psalm of the psalms of David, with words selected from the authorised version of the Church of England and music by the "best composers, ancient and modern". These music scores have been arranged and harmonised for one, two and three voices by Doctor John Smith, who was the Vicar Choral of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Chants for morning and evening service are included. This is now a very scarce find. Undated, dated through copies held at the University of Cambridge Libraries. In a half calf binding with the original boards and the calf corners removed. Externally sound, though rubbed to the spine, and somewhat worn to the boards, obscuring the odd couple of words.
