Sm. 4to., with coloured frontispiece, 82 coloured plates containing 300 illustrations, 8 photographs in monochrome and numerous illustrations in the text; original red pictorial cloth, upper board and backstrip blocked and lettered in black, a very good, clean copy in price-clipped dustwrapper, the latter with small loss (not affecting lettering) at head of backstrip. One of the three 'Wayside Pocket Guides' of the Wayside and Woodland series, Coward's 'Birds of the Wayside and Woodland' was distilled from his original three-volume work, (1920-26) and first published in 1936. Several times reissued, it remains one of the best and most popular volumes of the famous series. Very uncommon in this condition. See Marren, pp.196-7.

Sm. 8vo., with coloured frontispiece, numerous coloured and monochrome plates, and pictorial endpapers; original series binding of tan leatherette, upper board and backstrip blocked and lettered in gilt and black, brown sprinkled edges, radial corners, fore-edges lightly spotted else a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Probably either second impression [1929] or third impression [1936] but certainly a near fine copy. First published in 1923 and one of the few W&W titles never to have been revised (it was last reprinted in 1948). 'It is a real period piece and belongs to a lost world of nature study and domestic museums' (Marren). VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. See Marren, pp. 156-158.
