First issue of this zine devoted to rock music, founded while in high school by noted novelist and music journalist, Michael Goldberg, with Toby Byron. Drawing on local connections, this issue features a lengthy interview, with photos, with Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, as well as pieces on Clover, Flying Circus, The Who, etc. GOOD condition, ex-library with stamping to the front cover. HA in ink at the top left corner. Moderate toning. Minor soiling, wrinkling and scuffing. Good .

Decorative color half title present (or perhaps an original front wrap). 81 pp. The musical score and lyrics to La Navarraise, an opera based on a short story 'La Cigarette' by Jules Claretie, and set in Spain during the Carlist War of 1874. The libretto was written by Clariete and Henri Cain, with the music written by the noted 19th century French composer, Jules Massenet. The opera was first performed in London in 1894. GOOD condition. Spine and hinges reinforced along the exterior with black binding tape, a bit heavy-handedly. General fading, with minor to moderate uneven soiling to the covers. A few small dark ink stains/streaks to the front cover. Minor scuffing and edgewear. Interior hinges reinforced with tape. Several oval ownership/bookseller stamps on the first few endpapers and title page. Text block solid and toned. Good/No Jacket.

No music in this piece, perhaps as issued, as there is no evidence of removal. Front cover does mention six pages of principle airs. The libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave and was based on the play 'Hernani' by Victor Hugo. GOOD+ condition. Moderate to heavy browning to the wraps. Minor soiling and a few small, faint stains. Minor creasing, curling and chipping along the extremities, with some splitting along the spines. Interior clean and solid with offsetting to the title page. Good .

Paper covered boards with a leather spine. 248 pp. A publication containing the libretto and score for 'Der Apotheker und der Doctor,' a comic opera that first premiered in 1786. Composed by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf was an Austrian composer and violinist, being an important figure in classical music and composing. This opera was one of his most popular works. GOOD condition. Heavy scuffing and fading to the covers. Very heavy bumping, scuffing and peeling along the extremities, with the corners rounded. Leather very worn along the spine. Previous owner's bookplate on the inside front cover. A last name, in a largish ornate script, on the title page. Text block solid. A few stray pencil notes, lines and markings present. Appears to be cut off at the beginning of Act III, perhaps a publisher's/binder's error, as no pages appear torn out. OCLC records give several different paginations for this work. A piece consisting of a lengthy essay examining the work of Richard Wagner, including his poetry and vocal styles, as well as studying his various operas. This is followed by short biographies of the director Theodore Thomas, a German born American orchestral conductor gaining fame for his musical direction, as well as the performers Frau Amalia Friedrich Materna, Herr Emil Scaria and Herr Hermann Winkelmann. Following this are the lyrics and minor stage directions for several works, including Die Walkure, Siegfried, Die Meistersinger, Lohengrin and others. With illustrations based on Wagner's operas. Single page program sheet laid in. GOOD condition. Minor soiling and foxing to the wraps, with light fading. Moderate to heavy chipping and tearing along the extremities with a 3 inch tear along the lower front hinge. Heavy chipping tearing and creasing along the fore edge of the rear wrap. Interior clean and solid with minor scattered foxing and general toning to the paper. Good .
