New York: circa [1970]. [1970]. - 55 words penned in black ink on a sheet of his personalized letterhead, 10-1/2 inches high by 7-1/4 inches wide, with his name & address printed at top left. Signed 'Un grande abbraccio / Dario". There is light creasing to the top edge of the letter with a one-word ink notation in the lower left corner. Very good.

Dated August 10, 1978: "Finally here it is -- Sorry for the delay -- Dorle's [his wife's] and my mind were not with it for a while..If you do not get Opera News I thought you might like to see the very nice 'farewell'.."

Jean Dalrymple (1902-1998) was the dynamic producer and director of theater and light-opera at Manhattan's City Center. Very good .

19th Century. 19th Century. Very good. - 14 words penned on 5-1/2 inch high by 4-3/8 inch wide "5, Upper Wimpole Street" stationery, with the address embossed in red at the top. The English singer and composer responds to a request for her autograph "I have much pleasure in granting your request.." Signed "Charlotte H. Sainton". Once folded for mailing with clipped corners, the note is mounted with glue from the verso onto heavier stock clipped from an album. Very good. Born Charlotte Helen Dolby, the English contralto Charlotte Sainton-Dolby (1821-1885) studied under Domenico Crivelli at the Royal Academy of Music, and first appeared at a Royal Philharmonic Society concert in 1841. She married the violinist Prosper Sainton and, after retiring from singing, she met with with some success as a composer. Her compositions include: "The Legend of St Dorothea", "The Story of the Faithful Soul" , and "Florimel. Very good .

Very good. - Tall octavo, softcover, unbound self-wraps. 4 cream-colored sheets are folded once to form 16 pages, each 10-3/8 inches high by 6-3/4 inches wide. Title page with pictorial border of singing heads down the left margin & 15 pages of music. The edges of the last page are darkened. Very good. First edition of this version. "Reference Copy" is stamped on the title page. I Bought Me a Cat is a children's song on the lines of Old MacDonald, with a verse repeating and adding a new animal with each repeat [the last "animal" being a wife]. The accompaniment imitates the barnyard sounds of the cat, duck, goose, hen, pig, horse and cow. I Bought Me a Cat is one of five American folk tunes which Copland arranged at the request of Benjamin Britten, who planned to program them in his Aldeburgh Music and Art Festival. Copland wrote this first set of Old American Songs for male soloist and piano in 1950 and they were premiered in June of that year by Peter Pears with Britten at the piano. Very good .

The Dodger Song is a 19th-century American folksong, which was apparently used by the progressives as a campaign song to belittle Republican James G. Blaine.
