Six-page booklet with the sheet music for an arrangement for piano of Beautiful Ohio. Originally, the lyrics to this song were written by Ballard Macdonald. The music was composed by Mary Earl, the arrangement made by Henry Banta. With fragments of other pieces published by Kruseman on the inside and back covers.Tinted lithograph on the front cover, the music engraved. Booklet size (closed) 337 x 257 mm., published by J. Philip Kruseman (The Hague), 1918. Also distributed by Pêle Mêle Edition, Paris. Printed by Mouton (The Hague).In good condition, some discolouration in the left edge on the outside (glue remains, probably this was part of a collection of sheet music at some point). Small tears in the lower margin of all sheets (closed with acid-free archival tape). A small crease in the lower right corner.

Concert poster "Kerk-concert onder auspicien van Nederlands Volksherstel - Afd. Haarlem"

Promotional poster for a concert held at May 25th 1945 (shortly after the liberation from German occupation) in the St. Bavo church in Haarlem featuring Jo Vincent, Annie Woud and Hendrik Andriessen. Letterpress (in red) on wove paper. Sheet size 550 x 339 mm., printed by Joh. Enschedé & Zonen (Haarlem). The poster specifies three solo musicians, price of entry and the sale point of tickets. In good condition, a horizontal and a vertical fold, a small tear in the edge of the horizontal fold (closed with acid-free archival tape), a tiny hole in the middle of the sheet (where the two folds meet). Johanna Maria Vincent (6 March 1898 - 28 November 1989) was a Dutch soprano who appeared mostly in oratorio and concert, and is internationally known. She appeared regularly with Willem Mengelberg and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from 1924 to 1942, including annual concerts and a recording of Bach's St Matthew Passion. She participated in the world premiere of Benjamin Britten's Spring Symphony, with Kathleen Ferrier and Peter Pears. After retiring, she taught at the Haarlem Conservatory. Anna Catharina (Annie) Woud (Haarlem, 21 September 1901- Haarlem, 27 January 1989) was a Ducht alto. Hendrik Franciscus Andriessen (17 September 1892 - 12 April 1981) was a Dutch composer and organist. He is remembered most of all for his improvisation at the organ and for the renewal of Catholic liturgical music in the Netherlands. Andriessen composed in a musical idiom that revealed strong French influences. He was the brother of pianist and composer Willem Andriessen and the father of the composers Jurriaan Andriessen and Louis Andriessen and of the flautist Heleen Andriessen. During World War II, Andriessen refused to join the "Cultural House" (Kultuurkamer) and was thus barred from public functions by the Nazi occupiers. The only musical activities he was allowed were to give lessons and to accompany church services. He was held hostage by German occupiers from 13 July until 18 December 1942, when he was released. Andriessen was born in Haarlem.
