The author is a past Chairman of the Crime Writers' Association and this title was first published also in 1990. It is the story of a missing heiress who was presumed abducted, after her car and handbag were found abandoned, now twelve years later Detective Superintendent Marsh returns to the district where he had worked on the case as a young sergeant. The girl's body had never been found and he is determined to re-open the case and when his enquiries leads him to the one person who holds the key, a terrifying chain of events are set in motion and for the girl's family it might have been better if the past had remained buried and the mystery left unsolved. Light blue title on blue boards which are clean and unmarked with gentle bumping to top corner tips. Internally there is an inscription and date to front endpaper and age darkening to page edges else clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket is complete. The Canadian author is the father of the singer Neil Young and this is his first crime fiction novel and features Inspector Matthew 'Matteesie' Kitologitak, a full blooded Inuk who is one of the few Inuit officers in the Mounties. A crashed plane which may have drug smugglers aboard, a cold blooded murder of a spokesman for native rights and colourful characters make up the story. A1D. Very Good/Very Good.
