First and only edition. Illustrations include twelve colour plates, eight folding maps, and an additional six folding plates that are contained in a pocket that is adhered to the rear pastedown. This is an informative history of the French military campaigns that were undertaken on behalf of Napoleon Bonaparte from 1796 to 1815. Contents include 'First Coalition', 'Second Coalition', 'Campaign in Russia' 'The Peninsular War', and 'The War with the United States', as well as an appendix and an index.Written by J. H. Anderson, who was a lecturer at King's College London as well as a barrister.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with no noticeable wear, other than very light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. London, Not Stated, 1836. Cloth. A very scarce guide to sword exercise, written for the Yeomanry Cavalry by Henry Charles Angelo, with fifteen illustrated plates. Very scarce 1836 edition. Rare in all editions. Illustrations include one frontispiece and fifteen other illustrated plates to the rear of text, which depict different poses such as 'Recover Sword and Carry Sword', 'Cuts 1 and 2', 'Right and Left Points', and 'Salute&apos. This is an informative guide to sword exercise intended for use by the Yeomanry Cavalry, the mounted component of the British Volunteer Corps. This manual was intended for those volunteers who might be called to battle suddenly, but didn't necessarily have the formal training of other soldiers within the Army and Navy. Contents include 'Drill on Foot' and 'General Observations', with detailed descriptions on how to complete different sword exercises correctly. Henry Charles Angelo the Younger (1780-1852) was a British fencing master, who was part of the famous Angelo Family of fencers. He took over his father's fencing academy in 1817 and was also the superintendent of sword exercise for the British Army and the Royal Navy. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minimal bumping to the extremities and the spine, with a bit of cockling to the front board. Fading along spine and top edge of boards. Front hinge is starting. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with light age-toning to margins of pages and scattered spots which increases to the first and last few pages. This battle is referred to as the 'Battle of Mont-Saint-Jean', otherwise known as the Battle of Waterloo. This work was written anonymously by 'an eye-witness' and has since been attributed to Francois-Thomas Delbare.Collated, missing the 'two plans', which are meant to be folding plates, within the text. Bound in half-morocco on marbled boards. Externally, excellent, with no noticeable faults. Internally, firmly bound.
