Bound with wooden boards, the wood taken from the H.M.S Royal George. A work accounting the life of the H.M.S. Royal George, a first rate gun ship in the Royal Navy. The ship sunk in 1782, when it was anchored at Spithead to take supplies to go and relive Gibraltar. The ship sunk and lost more than eight-hundred lives. In this work, the anonymous authors recounts the sinking of this ship. The author also talks about Major-General Charles Paisley's 1839 attempted to clear the wreckage of the ships. His operation included breaking up the wreck using barrels of gunpowder. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and three plates. Collated from Copac from a copy held at the British Library, complete. In the original publisher's quarter calf with wooden boards. Externally, the front board is detached. Cracks to each board, repaired by a prior owner with tape. A couple of marks to the front board, and a small rectangle of wood removed.
