First printing. 94 pp. 102 photo illustrations demonstrating techniques, octavo, loose-leaf text with two-hole punch, bound in dark green cloth covers with two snap-rings. Book is complete and original with both snap-rings present and functional, though a bit stiff. Some of the punch-holes are torn, but the text is quite fresh and bright. Chapters include: Five Sub-Conscious Lessons in Boxing, Eight bone-breaking holds and releases, Jiu Jitsu and Eight holds in standing wrestling. Laid in: original 4 page (8 X 10 inch) promo material that was included with the original book when sent "on approval". Also, the original bill from Marshall Stillman to the original owner of the book, dated 1920, in the original envelope self-addressed to Marshall Stillman Association New York. It appears that the original owner did not send payment! A Very Good copy with light wear to the covers at tips, some rusting to the rings but no serious flaws. Very scarce item, especially with the original ephemera present. Very Good.

Nearly Fine text with no serious flaws, almost no sign of wear. No owner's inscription. Dj is not clipped, slight loss at tips and minor chipping to spine-ends. Overall a very nice copy of this rare and important self-defense manual, especially tough to find in dj. Although there is much information on the use of knives and bayonets, the latter half of the book focuses on unarmed hand-to-hand combat and the use of sticks. An excellent book, very tough to find in this first edition and in a dj. Nearly Fine/VG. Very Good/Dust Jacket Included.

Very rare first printing of this very early jiu-jitsu manual. 60 pp. printed recto only, 48 line drawings, 8 1/2 X 11 inch format bound by two brass brads in orange soft cover wraps. Contents are Nearly Fine with no noticeable flaws. The front and rear covers are Nearly Fine with no tears, no significant creases, virtually no wear. Just some very minor soiling and a very faint, almost un-noticeable corner crease. A superb copy of this very rare early jiu-jitsu item. We have only ever seen two copies in twenty years. This one is in far better condition than the other one we had. Near Fine.
