Thomas Goulard (1697–1784) French surgeon famous for Goulard's extract, a solution of lead (II) acetate and lead (II) oxide which was formerly used as an astringent. Goulard was a surgeon and anatomist in Montpellier who specialized in genitourinary disorders. His best known written work is titled Oeuvres de Chirurgie.

¶ Jonathan Green (1787/8–1864), surgeon. ODNB ‘... The study of skin diseases and their treatment through various types of bathing (hot, warm, or cold) was then an expanding surgical specialism pioneered by London surgeon Robert Willan, who produced a systematic classification of cutaneous diseases. Green records that Willan and others set up an Institute for the Treatment of Cutaneous Diseases in Marlborough Street, which included a suite of fumigating or vapour baths. Having, as Green explained, seen ‘a near relative of mine … receive such immediate and permanent relief, from the use of Fumigating Baths as to occasion me much satisfaction, and also a great desire to investigate them more minutely’ (Green, Fumigating Baths, iii), he went to Paris for a year to study the installations of Drs Gales and d'Arcet in French government hospitals. His account of the visit, [the above work] 1823 ...’
