One of 500 copies, specially bound, which were numbered and signed by the author and of which this is Number 261. Quarter bound, black cloth with ivory, marbled paper boards. Black cloth (over boards) stiff slipcase, as issued. Slip case shows light rubbing; else is fine. A series of letters in which Barth and the characters of his other books, as well as others, interact. The subtitle, 'An old time epistolary novel by seven fictitious drolls & dreamers each of which imagines himself factual'. The structured is such that when the first character of each letter in the book is placed on a calendar in accordance with their dates ansd the individual months are turned sideways, they spell the subtitle. As well, the marked dates spell out the word, 'Letters'. Ingenious and cool.
