Dent, 1893-4. 1st Ed., Ordinary Issue. 2 vols. Large 8vo. lxiv + 455pp. + [viii] + (lxv-xc) + 990pp. + [i]. Photogravure frontiss., 18 plates including 5 double page, numerous text illustrations, 350 chapter headings borders and initials all after designs by Beardsley. Sporadic spotting, e.ps. browned, original gilt tooled fawn cloth, slight soiling and discolouring, t.e.g. with some soiling, spines fraying with loss to head of spine of vol. 2 and tail of spine of vol. 1, corners frayed.
¶ One of 1500 ordinary copies, of a Larger Limitation of 1800 copies in all. Beardsleys first important commission and arguably his greatest work.
