Meeting Amber doesn't help, the waterways have always been her home, then Jeff finds Foxy, homeless, starving and terrified and in trying to calm the dog's fears he forgets his own. But Amber is determined that Foxy will be her dog , although even Amber isn't prepared for what she sets in motion. C3C. Fine/Very Good.

Coloured frontispiece tissue guarded and 8 other illustrations. Not dated but British Library has this as 1905. Overall a Good + copy. A marvellous life of Nelson written for children. A1B. This children's novel was written 17 years before being published and was stored in a loft and expresses the ex model's interest in indigenous tribal peoples of the world and her concern for the world's rainforests and her love of the Cornish countryside. It tells of a boy abandoned as a baby, who had nearly given up hope of finding his family, and follows his change in fortunes as he sets off on a journey after receiving a letter and his journey goes from London to Cornwall to the Amazonian rain forest. The tale is beautifully illustrated by Christopher Crump. 11. Very Good/Very Good.

For Joe Burkinshaw there was no choice, at the age of seven he had to join his brother working in the coal mine with no hope of escaping from the darkness, the toil and the danger and through the years of unhappiness during which he sees his brother killed and his mother crippled, he sets his mind on becoming free. Through an accident he finds himself bound as a servant to the mine owner but he flees and goes to Sheffield where he is press ganged into work at a steel works, then he flees again and ends up with a hermit and they live by poaching. Frontispiece of ship is tissue guarded. 384 pages. Not dated but circa 1900. First published in 1852, this was the prolific author, William Henry Giles Kingston's (1814-1880) third novel.
