Two original printersmarks or printers devices of Staatsdrukkerij dating from 1802.13x14cm. A printer's mark, device, emblem or insignia is a symbol that was used as a trademark by early printers starting in the 15th century. Staatsdrukkerij was (and still is) the official printer/publisher of the Netherlands. The first printer's mark is found in the 1457 Mainz Psalter by Johann Fust and Peter Schöffer. One of the most well-known old printer's marks is the dolphin and anchor, first used by the Venetian printer Aldus Manutius as his mark in 1502,

Vintage bookmark Assimil
Vintage bookmark, [ca. 1924], 12x2,5 cm, in promotion of Assimil, printed in black and gold on firm red paper with the option to insert over the top of a page. Assimil still exists and is - according to their website - "Europe's top language learning method". The text on this bookmark is French: "La methode facile vous permettra rapidement de lire dans le texte les bons auteurs étrangers, renseignez-vous chez votre libraire". The bookmark is not dated, but was found in a book published in 1924.

Haarlem: A.C. Kruseman, 1847, 48 pages, original paper binding, in good state, clean text, very good copy. Laurens Janszoon Coster, Coster also spelled Koster, (born c. 1370, Netherlands-died 1440?, Haarlem?), Dutch rival of Johannes Gutenberg as the alleged inventor of printing.Little is known of this early printer, whose last name means sacristan, his title as an official of the Great Church of Haarlem. He is mentioned several times in records between 1417 and 1434 as alderman, tax assessor, and treasurer and is presumed to have died in a plague that struck Haarlem in 1440, when his wife is recorded as a widow.
