London, Victoria and Albert Museum 1985. This portfolio is published to accompony a major exhibition presented by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The portfolio is accompanied by an introductory text by Mark Hawort-Booth, curator of photographs at the Victoria and Albert Museum. - For this portfolio original negatives have been culled from private and public collections throughout Great Britain and United States. From these negatives metal intaglio plates were made, from which these photogravures were hand-pulled. This portfolio furthers the the rediscovery of the early qualities of the medium and makes more accessible some of the rare and unique photographs of an unsurpassed period and tradition.
