N.p., 1912-1920. Contemporary album, (24) thin card-board leaves with 43 full-page (for the greater part ca. 11 x 16 cm) and four small photographs. Ca. 18,5 x 24,5 cm."Ecole de Cavalerie de Saumur" was a barrack for the infantry of the French army. This album contains photographs of cavalry of the "Ecole de Cavalerie de Saumur" training horses in the field; a cross on "Mardi-grass" in Verrie; horse-soldiers training their horses in an obstacle-race (the llieutenants Gervais, Constantinesco, Marchal, Hennocque, Eblé); tanks in the field near Renaud; troop-inspection; militairy steeple-chase in Verrie and Varrains; horse-show by i.a. Captain Martin a.o.; one large (ca. 16 x 22 cm) group photo of all the officers; some small photo's of militairy spots near Reims and Verdun. First free endpaper with the signature of a former owner (Jacques Jooris); a good copy. Possibly Jacques Jooris (1893-1942) was a major in the Belgian Army and the son of Emile Jooris (mayor of Varssenare).
