Origineel gestempelde linnen band met stijve kartonnen bladen en twee metalen sluitingen, ca. 14 x 10,5 cm.De foto's (zeven gekleurd en vijftien zwartwit), die in goede staat verkeren, zijn telkens ingeschoven in een kader; de ondertitels zijn met pen geschreven. De onderwepen zijn Italiaans en Frans. Minimale gebruikssporen, goed exemplaar.

N.p., 1912-1920. Contemporary album, (24) thin card-board leaves with 43 full-page (for the greater part ca. 11 x 16 cm) and four small photographs. Ca. 18,5 x 24,5 cm."Ecole de Cavalerie de Saumur" was a barrack for the infantry of the French army. This album contains photographs of cavalry of the "Ecole de Cavalerie de Saumur" training horses in the field; a cross on "Mardi-grass" in Verrie; horse-soldiers training their horses in an obstacle-race (the llieutenants Gervais, Constantinesco, Marchal, Hennocque, Eblé); tanks in the field near Renaud; troop-inspection; militairy steeple-chase in Verrie and Varrains; horse-show by i.a. Captain Martin a.o.; one large (ca. 16 x 22 cm) group photo of all the officers; some small photo's of militairy spots near Reims and Verdun. First free endpaper with the signature of a former owner (Jacques Jooris); a good copy. Possibly Jacques Jooris (1893-1942) was a major in the Belgian Army and the son of Emile Jooris (mayor of Varssenare).

(Solingen, Firma Rudolf Rautenbach G.m.b.H.), n.d. Or. halfcloth binding, 25 stiff brown paper pages. 30 x 23 cm.On every recto side of 20 pages 2 mounted professional photographs (for instance of a 'Hispano-suiza motor 57' which was i.a. used by Fokker after World War I; with white text beneath and the 'Osborne - pneumatische Rüttelformmaschine'); one page with 1 photograph and a 'titlepage' with text. Opposite the titlepage (complete text: 'Eigentum der Firma Rudolf Rautenbach G.m.b.H. Solingen') there is a paper pasted on with the portraits of 4 directors of the factory which was a specialized aluminum- and steelfoundry; at the end 2 pages with postcards of the 'Werkskantine' and the 'Festsaal'; 2 pages blank and 2 designs. Added: a stiff paper with 29 small pasted on photographs of the building and the interior of the factory, made 29 of October 1940 in Barmen (Wuppertal). The album, that was probably used for publicity, has been brought to Belgium by a convict during or short after World War II. With 2 exlibris of the former owner; very nice copy.

Jean Théophile Geiser (La Chaux-de-Fonds, 7 april 1848 - Algiers, 7 september 1923) Jean Geiser was born in Switzerland but was professionally active in North Africa. He was in Algiers, in French Algeria, working as a photographer at Alary et Geiser, which would later be called Geiser Frères when he was active in the business with his brother James Geiser. In 1868 he was the sole director. From 1897 he also started to publish postcards and illustrated books.
