Born Samuel Albert Tanenbaum to a Jewish family in Chicago, Samuel A. Taylor [1912-2000] made his Broadway debut as a playwright with "The Happy Time" in 1950. He wrote the play "Sabrina Fair" [1953] and co-wrote the film adaptation released the following year. He won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for this screenplay. His early success brought him more work in Hollywood, including "The Eddy Duchin Story" [1956] and Hitchcock's "Vertigo" [1958]. His film career faded after the initial failure of "Vertigo" but he continued to collaborate with Hitchcock, writing drafts of several other films for him. His later Broadway credits included "Avanti!", adapted for the Billy Wilder film released in 1972, and "Legend" [1976]. Very good .

A Beautiful Original Photograph of a Young Orson Welles Shaving in Front of a Mirror.
Circa, [1945]. [1945]. - sc A 14 inch high by 11 inch wide black & white photograph of a young attractive Orson Welles standing at the bathroom mirror as he carefully shaves himself with a straight razor. Bare-chested, his shirt hanging from a hook on the wall behind him, the neatly combed actor and future director carefully draws the blade across his lathered cheek which his right hand while his left hand, carelessly holding a towel across his chest as he draws the skin taught with his fingers. This is one of a very few prints of a photograph by Martin Harris pulled from the original negative in the 1990's and offered for sale at a special fund-raising event. Fine. Life magazine photographer Martin Harris superbly captures the focused, yet sensitive qualities which made Orson Welles the brilliant actor and director which he was to become. The photographer Martin Harris (1908-1971) worked for "Stars and Stripes" during the second World War. He later worked for "Look", "Life", "Colliers", and "The Saturday Evening Post" among other periodicals. Two of his photographs were selected as covers for "Life" magazine during his time with that periodical. Fine .
