An early reissue of the original Black and Armstrong edition, with a different frontispiece and additional title page, engraved, and titled 'The Continental Tourist, Belgium & Nassau', with the imprint 'London, Parry, Blenkarn & Co.' Dated from the copy held at the British Library c1840. An extensively illustrated, pictorial companion exploring some of the most interesting scenery in Europe, from Antwerp through Netherlands, Cologne, Nassau, Frankfort, and more. Illustrated with sixty two beautiful engravings on steel. Collated, complete.  From the library at Julian Park, Hertfordshire, belonging to Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). Audrey was the youngest daughter of an Anglo-American lumber and steel millionaire, sister to Edward James, a key figure in the Surrealist movement, and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. Her passion for literature is displayed by her impressive library.She was an English socialite known for her beauty and for charming various wealthy men, she was included in The Book of Beauty by Cecil Beaton. A patron of the arts, she assisted Viscount Carlow financially in the publication of limited editions of numerous works by leading literary figures such as T E Lawrence, James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, and others. A hedonistic pursuer, she was recognised as one of the 'Bright Young Things&apos.  In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, a minor loss to the head of the spine. With a small ownership sticker to the front pastedown. Internally, the front hinge is slightly loose, the binding is firm. With a minor faint spotting affecting the leaves of plates particularly, the leaves are otherwise generally very clean with a touch of age toning, as usual.
