London, John Stockdale, 1790. First printing of this edition. Hardcover. 8vo. Pp 1-541 and 544-1079 with frontis. to volume 1: A Striking Likeness of Shakespeare from the Original Folio Edition. Half bound in calf stamped in gilt on black panels on the spines with sides of marbled paper boards. Both volumes have been re-bound with new endpapers and spines. The original boards remain. There is some spotting to the prelims else a very nice set. There should be a third volume which comprised A Copious Index to the Remarkable Passages and Words by the Rev Samuel Ayscough, but this is not present. The two volumes here do present a complete unit in that they contain all of Shakespeare's dramatic oeuvre. Very Good .
