There are glue stains to the lower inner edges of the first 2 pages & the verso of the 1st page, else the contents are very good. A John Wannamaker catalog listing these tapestries for sale. A previous owner has noted a reduction in price in blue pencil on the first page and has made notes on the provenance of the catalog on the rear blank. A listing of other tapestries for sale on the last page has been crossed out. Rare. Good .

London: Sanderson, 1971. 1971. - Small folio, softcover. The contents are laid into a purple stiff paper case approximately 11-1/2 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide. The case is rubbed with creasing at the corners. The catalogue consists of 8 mechanically reproduced pages, printed on one side only & stapled together at top left. Two copies of a bibliography are printed on 2 additional loose sheets of pink paper. There are no illustrations. The bottom corners of the catalogue pages are lightly creased with minor creasing to the top corners & there is a small, light stain to the title page. The bibliography pages have been folded once & the top edge of the first page is darkened. Good. Sanderson's William Morris Exhibition was held from June 4th to July 1, 1971 at Reed House in London. This copy of the catalogue was issued by Sanderson's press office and is headed "press release" on the title page. Along the bottom edge of this page are lists of the wallpapers, paints and fabrics used in the exhibition. Each of the following seven pages is devoted to a different room, listing the furniture and materials found in each. In the case of wallpapers, fabrics, curtains and floor tiles, Sanderson's prices and inventory numbers are provided. Arthur Sanderson & Sons Ltd. now known simply as Sanderson, is a British manufacturer of fabrics and wallpaper founded in 1860. The original blocks for William Morris's wallpaper designs were included in the sale of Jeffrey & Co. which was purchased by Sanderson. When Morris & Co. was dissolved in 1940, Sanderson & Sons bought its wallpaper business and the rights to use the Morris name. The Morris collection is held in Denham, Buckinghamshire and, though not on public display, is regularly used by Sanderson's current designers. SCARCE. Good .
