Stepan Baran (1879 - 1953) was a political activist, journalist, lawyer, and author. He was a co-founder of the West Ukrainian People's Republic and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian National Democratic Party. Baran left Ukraine for Germany in 1944 and was Prime Minister of the Government of the Ukrainian People's Republic in exile in 1952 - 1953. He authored numerous books - most of them historical studies. Published in a DP camp in Germany and part of a series, each volume written by a different author, his current work was published on the 350th anniversary of the 1596 Union of Brest-Litovsk, which would ultimately contribute to the Khmelnytsky Uprising in Ukraine. Good .

Fedir Dudko (1885 - 1962), writing under the pseudonyms Odud, F. Karpenko, and others, was a Ukrainian author, journalist, and social activist. After working at the library of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, Dudko left Ukraine, first to Germany, where he spent time at several DP (displaced persons) camps and where he published his current book, and then to the US, where he worked for several emigre journals and wrote numerous short stories and novels, including the present one, dealing with the importance of spiritual independence of Ukraine. Very good .

In Ukrainian, English, and German. The Ukrainian Technical and Husbandry Institute was established in 1932 as a polytechnical institute and a correspondence school of the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in, then, Czechoslovakia. Fleeing the advancing Soviet Army in 1945, the faculty of the institute were granted permission by the US forces to continue their work at a DP camp in Regensburg. The current book contained lectures and notes on math, chemistry, history, etc. Very good .

Teodor Kurpita was a poet, novelist, satirist, playwright, and journalist. He emigrated to Germany in 1945 and spent time at several DP camps, where he founded the publishing house "Akademiia" and was Editor-in-chief of the scientific magazine "Ridne slovo." After WWII, Kurpita settled permanently in Chicago, where he became Editor-in-chief of the emigre journal "Ukrainske zhittia" and wrote numerous novels and poetry collections. His current work was published during his time at a DP camp in Munich and focused on Virgin Mary, revered among Ukrainians, and her representation in art, literature, and music. Very good .

Rostyslav Endyk (1906 - 1974) was a Ukrainian anthropologist, author, journalst, educator, politician, and full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Some of his most notable scientific books included studies of the anthropology of Ukrainians, including "Anthropological features of the Ukrainian people" (1934) and "Introduction to the racial structure of Ukraine" (1949). After escaping Ukraine at the begining of WWI, he lived and worked in Krakow and then in Germany, contributing to several emigre journals in Europe and in the US and writing numerous collections of short stories, including the current, epic poem, one of his best-known works, published in a DP (displaced persons) camp in Germany. Very good .

He left Ukraine for Germany in 1944 and spent several years at various DP (displaced persons) camps, before permanently emigrating to Philadelphia in 1949, where he continued writing, particularly on Ukrainian church history. Published in a DP camp in Germany and part of a series, each volume written by a different author, his current work was published on the 350th anniversary of the 1596 Union of Brest-Litovsk, which would ultimately contribute to the Khmelnytsky Uprising in Ukraine. Adrian Kashchenko (1858 - 1921) was a reknowned Ukrainian author and historian of the Zaporozhian Cossacks. He was also an active participant in the "Prosvita" (Enlightenment) Society and founded his own publishing house. Most of his works were centered on the history and lives of Zaporozhians, including the current one, which described the negatives of the post-break-up of the Zaporozhian Host. This edition was published in a DP (displaced persons) camp in the American Occulational Zone in Germany. Good .

Although, not much is known about the author, writing under the pseudonym Hoopoe (bird) in a DP camp in Germany, the little book offered practical and somewhat-amusing suggestions for civilized behaviour, including "Do not keep your hands in your pockets," "Never eat fish with a knife," "Do not spit and smack your mouth," and "Never shrug your shoulders at a woman. Very good .

She wrote numerous works on hygiene, nutrition, temperance, and pediatrics, as well as several collections of fictional short stories and novels. She left Ukraine with her family in 1944, emigrating first to Austria, then Germany, and finally to the US in 1949. She practiced gynecology until a progressive eye disease forced her to retire and focus solely on writing. Her current book, specifically rewritten for youth audiences, was published at a DP (displaced persons) camp in Germany. Very good .

After co-establishing the Architectural Institute in Kiev, he taught in Lviv and Prague, before he was arrested and imprisoned by the Gestapo in 1943. Sichynskyi emigrated to the US in 1949, where he continued writing and working on his architectural designs until his death. His current book, on the origins of Ukraine and its name, was written, while the author was at a DP camp in Germany. Very good .

A scarce, incomplete run of an elusive periodical, it was published in a DP camp in Germany and contained poetry of the Ukrainian Resistance Movement, analyses of the Intelligence Service, etc. The current issues were titled: "Z poezii povstanskoi borotby (peredruk kraevykh vydan)" (Poetry of the Insurgent Struggle (Reprints of Regional Publications)), "Zakulisy dyplomatii (z nimetskoho)" (Behind the Scenes of Diplomacy (From the German)) by G. A what appears to be the only issue from an intended series, the booklet was published by the Organization of Ukrainian Emigre Women in Germany. The organization was initially founded at a DP (displaced persons) camp in Munich, but would later spread through other camps in the American and British occupational zones after the end of the Second World War. Their goal was to provide educational and medical help, to boost nationalism and morale, to help organize classes and workshops, and to act as liaisons to their compatriots with the Americans and Brits. The book, highlighting the lives of prominent Ukrainian women, was devoted to Olena Pchilka (1849 - 1930), pseudonym for Olha Petrivna Kosach - publisher, author, ethnographer, and civil activist, and the Staritski-Cherniakhivski sisters - Mariia, Oksana, and Liudmyla - famed authors and actresses.
