Matching date of 1939 on title page and copyright page. Original bookseller sticker on rear endpaper: "Hudson's Book Shop Detroit". Cloth covers show light wear and some darkening from handling, some small soil spots to front board, more soiling to rear. Contents quite clean with one or two neatly repaired closed tears (glued not taped). Rear endpapers partly split, front endpapers fully separated. Contents are almost completely loose, just holding on with one thread. An excellent candidate for repair. Very rare first state. Fair/No Jacket.
