Puss in Boots
New York, Merrimack Publishing Corp, 1970. Hardcover. Small 4to. Glazed pictorial paper over boards. 10pp. Numerous color illustrations. Very good. Slight minor separation along the always-delicate spine has been expertly and archivally strengthened. Facsimile of a cryptic "Antique Original" in which the ten all-text pages are divided by an all-color "And here is the Story of Puss in Boots in Pantomime" section, being a facsimile of what appears to be a late 19th century color lithography edition -- not pop-up style, but the kind of novelty printing in which various-size pages overlap one upon the next, revealing the story entirely in pictures as you go. Quite charming and rather uncommon. .

Tight and pristine undated modern (circa 1980s) facsimile of this late 19th century unidentified edition, "Reproduced from the Antique Original."
