Particularly interested by the atmosphere of the Quatre-Chemins district where Les Laboratories is located, the artist went to meet merchants to initiate a relationship with them based on the exchange of one of her works for an object of their shop. This gesture was the starting point of a creative process that has unfolded in several forms ? sculptures, installation, films and photos. Renewing the process of this exchange-based relationship in a specific urban context for a new production of works and photographs, a second edition of the project took shape under the title _0_0__0 in June 2017 at Mercer Union in Toronto. To complete the series, a last edition took place at the Siobhan Davies Dance in London under the title Mesonya/ in Fall 2017.

This catalogue will accompany the Bruegel to Rubens exhibition held at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford between 22 March and 23 June 2024. Through a selection of over 100 world-class drawings created by Flemish artists in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, an insightful and comprehensive overview will be given into how these drawn sheets were used as part of artistic practice, within or beyond the artist's studio. By revealing the drawings' function, rather than on their attribution or iconography, these sheets will become more fully understood through the eyes of contemporary readers. Identifying how and why these sheets were created will render these artworks more accessible to a wider audience. The three main essays will each deal with one of the principal functions of drawings at the time: studies (copies and sketches), designs for other artworks (paintings, prints, tapestries, metalwork, stained glass, sculpture and architecture), and finally the independent drawings. Each essay will discuss the relevant works within their functional context and compared with other related objects. Introductory chapters will focus on what precisely can be considered a drawing, including its materials, media and techniques, in addition to an attempt to explain the notion of Flanders and Flemish art. Emphasis will be placed throughout the catalogue on how Flemish artists collaborated in creating the most astonishing artworks of their time, unveiling their networks and friendships, as well as their travels across Europe, revealing their international importance. ¶ Expo: 22/2/2014 - 14/9/2014, Huis Magritte, Jette. Het eerste Rene Magritte Museum in Belgie, dat zich in zijn woonhuis te Jette-Brussel bevindt, ging in 1999 open. De collectie zelf ontstond in 1982 en had van meet af aan een dubbel doel: enerzijds de Belgische surrealisten, anderzijds de Belgische abstracten, zowel de pioniers uit de jaren 1920 als de tweede generatie na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Het Rene Magritte Museum vond die twee kunststromingen, surrealisme en abstractie, altijd de meest creatieve en waardevolle uit de moderne kunst. Bovendien zijn er interessante verbanden te leggen tussen beide disciplines, die ongeveer samen ontstonden en zich parallel ontwikkeld hebben. Een breed overzicht van de abstracte collectie van het Museum kwam reeds aan bod aan een vorige uitgave: Een eeuw Abstracte Kunst, Honderd Belgische Abstracten. In deze publicatie komen het surrealisme en zijn uitlopers aan bod. Het surrealisme wordt in deze publicatie niet benaderd vanuit groepen die zich profileerden en die een min of meer uitgestippelde doctrine volgen, zoals de Brusselse groep (Magritte), of de Groupe de Hainaut (Simon, Lefrancq, van de Spiegele) maar de surrealistische kunstenaars worden als aparte figuren gewikt en gewogen. In deze publicatie komt werk aan bod van o.a. Rene Magritte, Paul Delvaux, Felix Labisse, Marcel Marien, ELT Mesens, Pol Bury, Rachel Baes,..
