¶ Lacking accompanying booklet Inhaltverzeichnis 7pp. The Städel, officially the Städelsches Kunstinstitut und Städtische Galerie, one of the most important collections in Germany. With 2,700 paintings (of which 600 are displayed) and a collection of 100,000 drawings and prints as well as 600 sculptures. It has around 4,000 of display and a library of 100,000 books and 400 periodicals. These volumes are superbly illustrated, presumably to scale, displaying key pieces from the museum’s enormously important collection of drawings. The collection of prints and drawings are not on permanent display they occupy the first floor of the museum and can be seen by prior appointment. These volumes give some idea of the treasures stored. Included are the masters Dürer (18), Holbein (3), Breughel (1), Rembrandt (18), Rubens (2), Vermeer (2), Lippi (1), Van Dyck (2), Aldorfer (3), Hollar (1), Michelangelo (1), as well as lesser known but no less important artists such as Francesco Primaticcio, Rafael Sanzio, Nicolaes Maes, Maro Zoppo, Dirk Hals, Salvator Rosa, Meister E.S., Piranesi, Jacob de Gheyn, Gerard ter Borch, Meister Mitte des XV. Jahrh, Pieter Cornelius van Singeland, Hans Brosamer, Cristofano Allori, Nicolas Lancret, Willem Romeyn, Hendrick Averkamp, Hans leu der Jüngere, etc.
