Overall, this copy is only in fair to good condition, but the binding is bright, and the contents are generally clean. Undated, but COPAC dates the book to 1876, and there is an ownership inscription to the front pastedown dated 11/11/76. The list of illustrations calls for 42 plates - this copy lacks the plate at page 40 (as usual).

The binding has been sympathetically rebacked with a brown cloth spine, there is some rubbing and scuffing of the boards, scattered foxing (affecting the preliminary pages more than the interior), and a gift inscription (dated 1920). Only a good minus copy overall, but the plates are in sound condition. Undated; COPAC gives a date of 1914 or 1915, and confirms that all copies were undated. An uncommon Aldin, with the plates featuring a dog and a cat.
