Born in Sumatra, returned to Indonesia in 1919 after his training in Amsterdam Art School, member of the Batavia Art Circle [Bataviaasche Kunstkring], pariticipating in several exhibitions 1923-1936. Prolific and well-known painter, draughtsman, watercolourist and muralpainter in an impressionistic style in bright colouring whose paintings reflect the artists cheerful and openhearted disposition.
