As on a Darkling Plain; Colony; Eye Among the Blind; Earthwind; Mythago Wood; Extro; Golem 100; the Deceivers; the Eye of the Queen; Wulfsyran; the Last Colony; Zoe&Apos;S Tale
London, Magnum; Pan Books; Grafton; Methuen; VGSF; Tor, 1972-2009. Paperback. Twelve volumes of science fiction by Ben Bova, Robert Holdstock, Alfred Bester, Phillip Mann, and John Scalzi. Includes a first edition of The Deceiver's by Bester. Twelve volumes of science fiction by award winning writers, including by Ben Bova, Robert Holdstock, Alfred Bester, Phillip Mann, and John Scalzi. Includes a first edition of The Deceiver's by Bester. As well as three works of mythic fiction by English novelist Robert Holdstock, the collection contains two 1970s novels written by American writer Ben Bova; As on a Darkling Plain, and Colony. Whilst Bova's novels are packed with adventure, Holdstock's fiction and fantasy works explore more philosophical, psychological, anthropological, and spiritual themes. Holdstock received three awards from the British Science Fiction Association and won the World Fantasy Award in the category of Best Novel of 1985 for his breakthrough novel Mythago Wood, found here alongside Earthwind, and his first work of science fiction, Eye Among the Blind. Holdstock is not the only author to receive prizes for his work, as the American author Alfred Bester has also received several nominations for his 1975 novel The Computer Connection, later re-printed as Extro, which we have here alongside Golem 100 and a first edition of The Deceivers. This set also contains Wulfsyarn by Phillip Mann, and his first science fiction novel The Eye of the Queen, as well as two works by John Scalzi, the former President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Set in the same universe as his first novel The Old Man's War, The Last Colony and Zoe's Tale were both nominated Hugo Awards in the Best Novel category. Interestingly, Zoe's Tale presents a different view of events covered in the Last Colony. In the publisher's original paperback binding. Externally, generally very smart. Eye Among the Blind, Earthwind, and Colony look as if they have been bent in the past. With several creases to the front of Wulfsyarn, and small crease to the bottom corner of the front cover of Earthwind. The spine of Zoe's Tale is also lightly creased, and there is some light wear to the head of the spine of Golem 100 and Wulfsyarn, whilst The Last Colony has some light wear to the tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound with lightly age-toned but clean pages. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
