The first Thin Paper edition combining 'The Dynasts' and 'The Famous Tragedy of the Queen of Cornwall' in a single volume. Issued as Volume II of 'The Poetical Works', it is nevertheless complete in itself ('Volume I' collects the author's several volumes of poetry). 'The Dynasts' was originally published in three parts (1903, 1906, 1908) and first collected in a single ('Complete') volume in 1910. The three parts were originally published in 1904, 1906 and 1908. Because of the ambition and scale of the work, Hardy acknowledged that The Dynasts was not a work that could be conventionally staged in the theatre. The first single volume edition of the work. Written by Thomas Hardy, an English novelist and poet, influenced both in his novels and in his poetry by Romanticism. Publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, sound with light bumping to the extremities and the odd small mark to the cloth. A small split in the cloth to the head of the spine. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound.
