The first edition of the work. Inscribed by the author to 'Strobe, from Louis Golding, to go wandering from Shoe Lane to the Floriansthal', dated January 1932. This charming note is a reference to a location used in the novel. Written by English author Louis Golding, who was known for his Jewish themes and his fierce opposition to anti-Semitism and Nazism. This particular novel is set in the 1920's in a post-war Germany, as with many of Golding's other novels. 'The Miracle Boy' tells the story of a young boy growing up in rural Germany with his companion, a pet raven. The boy's artistic talents lead to him travelling to Munich to further his skills. Illustrated with striking monochrome drawings to accompany the story, by British painter Herbert Gurschner. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, lovely, with light shelf wear only.
