Forester's Hornblower series, following the adventures of Horatio Hornblower, a fictional Royal Navy officer during the Napoleonic Wars. The Hornblower series consists of twelve novels, of which one unfinished, and five short stories published between 1937 and 1967. Admiral Hornblower includes James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction in 1938 Flying Colours, as well as The Commodore, Lord Hornblower, and Hornblower in the West Indies. C. S. Forester was born in Cairo in 1899, lived in the UK and died in California, USA in 1966 (aged 66). He was an English novelist known for his writings on naval warfare.With clipped dustwrapper. In the original publisher's blue cloth binding with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally very smart with minor shelfwear to spine and extremities. Dustwrapper is very smart with minor shelfwear and some closed tear, particularly to extremities and fly leaves. Internally, generally firmly bound.
