His association with the press spanned several years, and he collaborated on various projects, creating illustrations and wood engravings for their limited edition publications. Here are some key points about Blair Hughes-Stanton's work for Gregynog Press: Collaboration with Gregynog Press: Hughes-Stanton's collaboration with Gregynog Press began in the 1930s. During this time, the press was known for producing finely crafted limited editions of classic and contemporary works, often featuring high-quality illustrations and wood engravings. Wood Engravings: Hughes-Stanton was particularly known for his skill in wood engraving, a technique where an image is carved into the surface of a block of wood, and then inked and pressed onto paper. His wood engravings were notable for their intricate details and expressive quality. Illustrations for Limited Editions: Hughes-Stanton provided illustrations and wood engravings for several books published by Gregynog Press. His work often complemented the text and contributed to the overall aesthetic appeal of the editions. Traditional Techniques: The Gregynog Press, like many private presses of its time, valued traditional printing methods and craftsmanship. Hughes-Stanton's expertise in wood engraving aligned well with the press's commitment to producing finely printed and visually striking books. Notable Works: One of the notable works for which Blair Hughes-Stanton provided illustrations is the Gregynog Press edition of "The Revelation of St. John the Divine" in 1932. The illustrations in this edition are highly regarded for their artistic merit and sensitivity to the religious themes of the text. Legacy: The collaboration between Blair Hughes-Stanton and Gregynog Press contributed to the legacy of both the artist and the press. Their combined efforts produced books that are not only literary treasures but also examples of the craftsmanship and artistic expression valued by enthusiasts of fine printing. ; 23.3 x 15.7 x 2.4 cms; 266, (2) pages.
