A first edition copy of this fascinating work by the Welsh poet and physician Dannie Abse; signed by the author to the title page, with an additional signature by the renowned English dramatist Arnold Wesker. Containing a fascinating collection of autobiographical essays, by Abse, many of which were previously published in magazines or adapted from radio talks. Daniel Abse was a renowned Welsh poet and physician. Arnold Wesker was a prolific English dramatist, who authored over fifty plays, four volumes of short stories, two volumes of essays, a selection of poetry, and other assorted writings. With a loosely inserted letter to 'Mr and Mrs Arnold Wesker' signed by the Publicity Manager of Century Hutchinson Limited, Hettie Wallace, inviting the couple to attend a reading of Abse's poetry collection 'Ask the Bloody Horse&apos. This letter is accompanied by a leaflet to the 'National Poetry Centre', dated 'March- April 1986&apos. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally lovely with only faint offsetting to endpapers. Dustwrapper, lovely with very minor shelfwear to extremities. Small ink mark (covering price) to front flyleaf. Internally firmly bound. Pages very slightly age toned to extremities, but bright and clean throughout. Author's ink inscription to title page. Prior owner's ink inscription to title page.
