A noted architect, Fowler is best remembered for his designs of markets, including London's Covent Garden Market.Collated, illustrated with a folding frontispiece, and fourteen further plates - each retaining tissue guards - and an engraved plate advertising the publisher. Lacking one plate only, 'Hoisting the Ribs for the Transept Roof', which should appear facing page 75.This work is unique in illustrating and describing all of the machines used in making the parts for the Palace; it also lists all of the competitors for the building design and illustrates and describes two of the competing designs. With a presentation bookplate to the front pastedown, dedicating the work to 'John Bowden for his regular attendance as a teacher in the Maple Church Sunday School&apos.
