(between 1827 and 1832 - American Tract Society was located at 144 Nassau St. during this period); 6 3/4 x 4 1/4; pp. [1], 2-12 (also numbered 210-220); green wraps, tied with a string and decorated with a woodcut; creasing to lower margin and a few minor spots to wraps; in about very good condition. A cautionary tale, it was attributed to Scottish missionary and traveller Rev. John Campbell (1766 - 1840) in "Sketch of the origin and character of the principal series of tracts of the American Tract Society" American tract magazine (Nov. 1831). According to the American Antiquarian Society, the woodcut was created by Dr. Alexander Anderson (1775 - 1870) - physician, illustrator, and one of the earliest American wood engravers. Very good .
