"The Third Hour," published in English, Russian, and French, was co-founded by Russian noblewoman, anti-communist political exile, author, and journalist Helene Iswolsky, nee Elena Izvolskaia (1896 - 1975), Russian composer and author Arthur Vincent-Lourie, nee Naum Luria (1892 - 1966), and several others. Ten issues would be published between 1946 and 1976 with their main goal being "the unification of all Christians." The works of various distinguished figures of the literary, political, and social world would be featured in the journal, some appearing for the very first time in print, including journalist, anarchist, and social activist Dorothy Day (1897 - 1980), philosopher and theologian Nikolai Berdiev (1874 - 1948), Helene Iswolsky and Arthur Lourie themselves, and so on.
