Title: Dom Istoricheskogo Muzeia, Byvshii Kologrivovoi, V Gor. Kaluge (the Local History Museum, Former Kologrivov House, in the City of Kaluga)
Description: Kaluga, Gosudarstvennyi oblastnoi muzei, 1928. First Edition. First edition, 1 of 1000 copies; 8 1/2 x 7; pp. [6], 1-31; beige wraps with an Avant-garde design; illustrated with numerous photographs and architectural drawings; rebacked, with some repairs to corners and edges; in good to very good condition. A beautiful work, it was written by architect, educator, author, and local historian Sergei Bezsonov (1885 - 1955), renowned for writing the first book on wooden Empire-style architecture in Russia (published in 1928, the same year as the one of this publication). The current book described the architectural marvel that was the Zolotaryov-Kologrivov house, now the site of the town’s local history museum. The Neoclassical masterpiece was built between 1805 and 1808 for the wealthy merchant Zolotaryov, son of a noted Kaluga silversmith and a descendent of traders in precious metals. The stunning interior design would be the work of the famous Moscow firm of S. P. Campioni. Good .
