The 1929 first edition softcover book has surface grunge and age toning. There is some scuffing and chipping along edges, corners and spine also small markings in a few places. The contents are loose from the cover. Henry Edwards Huntington was a railroad and real estate businessman. In 1892 he married Arabella, the widow of his uncle. Together, they amassed an extensive library, art, and botanical collection. Mr.Huntington gathered, as a memorial to his wife, a small collection of Italian and Flemish paintings of the Renaissance. In depth descriptions of the size of each painting, surface, exhibitions, locations, owner, date collected, etc. were noted in this book. No actual pictures. This book is from the private library of journalist and publisher James Strohn Copley with his decorative book-plate on the front paste-down. Mr. Copley was the owner of the San Diego Union Tribune. He had the interest and passion of an inspired collector/newspaper publisher who wanted the finest work available. He wanted every book "to represent dramatic, humorous, romantic, passionate, or tragic events in the lives of real people unconsciously caught in the weave of American history".
