This is a Near Fine Copy of this book bound in a very attractive half tan calf over marbled boards with five raised bands to spine and with red moroccan title label to spine lettered in gilt to the 2nd compartment.There is further gilt motif design in all the remaining compartments to spine with gilt date of 1772 to base of spine.New endpapers with one former owner's neat ink name and date of of 1787 to the blank front endpaper.The book is illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and a further five plates by F Hayman and J Miller and at the end of the volume is a 2 leaf advertisement often discarded in a rebinding.The book includes the Drama entitled 'Samson Agonistes' and is bound togther with a Tractate of Education.It really is a very attractive binding in polished calf,new endpapers are present and the table of contents is present.The book measures 17.5 cm by 11 cm.Binding remains firm with no loose leaves,of course an odd foxing spot/smudge mark is present internally but the contents remain in excellent order as do the engraved plates.Scarce in this condition,small 8vo 381pp + 2pp advertisement [1772].
