The main diagram shows both Eclipses of the Sun and of The Moon coupled with The Theory of the Tides being 'The Neap Tide' and 'The Spring Tide' so there are 6 coloured illustrations in total.At the bottom of the chart there is further detailed text with an explanation of The Tides.The chart remains in good condition with just one small 1cm closed tear to the bottom section.Measures 11'' by 9'' Circa 1850 N.B.James Reynolds produced some wonderful educational astronomical charts from around 1840 to around 1860.They were invariably hand coloured on card with some notes of explanation etc.Some had very clever tissue insets so that when held up to the light they illuminated the picture as if by magic and there are some wonderful transparent images produced to illuminate the sky.He produced various aspects of astronomy such as stars and constellations,comets,eclipses and planets near and far from Earth.John Emslie 1813 to 1875 was the principal artist and engraver of these wonderful diagrams.
