Two small holes, one just affecting a few letters in line 6 of the Afternoon Order of the Day. Stain to center [see image]. A VG copy of this rare survivor. Brown University was founded in 1764 as Rhode Island College, at the site of the First Baptist Church in Warren, Rhode Island. It moved to Providence in 1770. Baylies "was an American lawyer and politician who served four non-consecutive terms as a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts in the early to mid-19th Century. Baylies was born in Dighton, Massachusetts, in 1776, the son of Dr. William Baylies [1743 – 1826]. He graduated from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, in 1795 where he studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Bridgewater (west parish) in 1799 and served as member of the State house of representatives in 1808, 1809, 1812, 1813, 1820, and 1821 and in the State Senate in 1825, 1826, 1830, and 1831. He was elected a member of the American Antiquarian Society in 1814." [Wiki].
