Modest wear & soiling to binding, VG+. Leith captured by the Delaware Indians in Ohio in 1772, during Dunmore's war, and remained in captivity till 1790. Butterfield states in his preface, "The annotations begin with Leith's introduction to savage life, and end with his final return to civilization; beyond this point, the narrative gives a vivid portrayal of hardships and privations such as were incident to the early settlement of the West..". The first edition is extremely rare with OCLC noting but 2 institutional copies; this reprint here offered is not often seen on the commercial market [e.g. at the time of cataloguing, RBH shows 1997 as the most recent].
