This facility presumed to be the sanitarium opened at Park and Ocean View in 1907 by Dr. W.L. Woodruff, a homeopathic practitioner who treated patients with â€oelight therapy.â€� Woodruff actively fought the state’s order to vaccinate students. This stance resulted in a polio outbreak, ca 1920, after which said stance against vaccinations, understandably, weakened.
