[i-iii] vi-viii [1] 2-320; [i-iii] vi-viii [1] 2-320 pp. Forty wood-engraved illustrations, with captions, including frontispieces. 8vo. 8-1/2" x 5-1/2". Both vols. have been bound without the half-titles, some sunning to backstrips, slightly rubbed at edges, internally bright, vol. 2 with ms ink signature to p. 1: "Georgina M. FitzGibbon." Overall a VG+ copy. With all the first issue points in Sadlier, 13, and with stab holes from original parts visible in both volumes. Lacks the publishers catalogue sometimes bound terminally to vol. 1. Vol. 1 with Clowes imprint (D1) verso of the title-page, a (B) at the tail of p. 320; vol. 2 with Clowes imprint (D1) verso of the title-page, and (C1) at the tail of p. 320. Comma in vol. 1, "And then they all marched.." has NOT been dropped, and plate is bound facing p. 74 (not 73 as noted in Sadlier). Last two plates in vol. 2 are both captioned "Farewell.".
