This photograph album presented as a souvenir from the U.S. Army's 504th Field Army Battlion in Puerto Rico to the visiting officers of the Ecuadorian Army, who were there in late June / early July of 1948. The photographs depict the field training received by those Ecuadorian officers, who were instructed in the use & operation of 105mm howitzer artillery. Also documented is the social interaction of the two groups, including ceremonies, luncheons, visits to historical sites, and even a tour of the Don Q Rum factory. While the exact impetus for this training visit is not detailed in the souvenir album, one can speculate that Ecuador's 1941 border dispute with Peru may have played some role in occassioning this training at the hands of the 504th.
