Original publisher's green cloth binding with gilt stamped title lettering to spine. xi, [1], 242, [2] pp. Publisher adverts last 2 pages. Frontispiece, with tissue guard. 8vo. 7-3/4" x 4-7/8". Spine a bit sunned, with a slight cock to the volume. Period pos to front paste-down; light foxing; the odd pencil tick mark, with rear blank 50% filled with notes. A solid Very Good copy. In 1858 the author, Edward Gastineau, took a four month walking tour of the Channel Islands, and this account was published in 1860.  It is more than a travelogue; he also discusses the islands' history, their geography & their inhabitants.   A somewhat rare book in the trade; the RBH database records no copy on the market since that in a 1945 Francis Edwards catalogue.
