Author: [Union Pacific Railroad]. J. Hansink - Manager Title: UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COLLECTION Of 7 DINNER MENUS. 103-104 2E-2W
Description: Omaha, NE: Union Pacific Railroad, 1971. 1st printings (presumed). White paper printed with black lettering and color images. 7 single sheets, printed both sides. 7 color photographic images (one for each menu) of different scenic views of the Western United States. Oblong formats: 13-3/4" x 9-1/2". Light wear to menus (modest rubbing to edges). A VG+ set. These menus are all the same specialties and entrees. Their charm lies not so much in the menu of the dining cars, but in the beautiful photographic illustrations and educational lessons on the rears of the menus. Each contains a different scenic view and explanation of interesting and famous locations throughout the West. Scenes pictured: Brigham's Butte, Grand Canyon National Park; Laguna Beach, California, Popular All-year Playground; Colter Bay, Jackson Lake, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming; Snowclad Mount Hood looms over the farms and orchards of Oregon; Fremont Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, main stem of the ultra modern "Casino Center" area where doors never close, as seen from Union Pacific station; World famous Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah, the chief sanctuary of the Mormon Church; On the trail to Oastler's Castle, Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. Educational paragraphs for each image explain travel details, the charm and beauty of each place, and cultural anecdotes about the areas.
