Pale yellow eps. 3 volumes (vii, [1 (blank)], 301, [3]; vii, [1 (blank)], 297, [3]; vii, [1 (blank)], 319, [1 (blank)] pp). Advert leaf at rear of Vols I & II. 8vo. 7-3/4" x 5". Spines darkened. Hinges to Vols I & III professionally, and unobtrusively, strengthened. PO book labels to front paste-down. All-in-all, a quite nice VG+ triple-decker, and quite scarce thus. Another Trollope 'pot-boiler', which "hinges on an inheritance plot". Yada, yada, yada, surprize (!) ".. all comes well." Perhaps of most interest to today's reader is "Trollope's blistering prejudiced satire on the emergent women's movement and their absurb leaders, the German Baroness Banmann and the American Doctor Olivia Q. Fleabody." [Sutherland, Victorian Fiction]. When Sadleir first published his Trollope bibliography in 1928, Popenjoy was not considered by him to be a truly 'scarce' book, except in Fine condition, for he noted that most of the intial print run went to libraries. So we feel confident, here 96 years later, concluding that this set is one of the nicer ones offered in recent history.
